How we grade second hand smart watches

Each watch is listed under one of four grades, so you know what the case, screen, and battery look like before you order:

  • Open Box: unused or barely used, complete testing done, original condition.
  • Like New: no visible wear on the case or display.
  • A-Grade: light signs of use. Battery health of 85% or higher on older models, 80% or higher on newer models.
  • B-Grade: visible marks on the case or band area, fully functional, battery health of 80% or higher.

Battery health matters more on a watch than on a phone because the cell is small. Publishing the threshold per grade lets you match the price band to how you use the watch: daily workouts and sleep tracking, or notifications only.

Is a used Apple Watch Series 3 still worth buying?

In most cases, no. The Series 3 stopped receiving watchOS updates after watchOS 8, so newer apps and security fixes no longer reach it.
