Apple Watch SE 2nd Gen: Sizes, Connectivity and Colours

Apple released the second generation SE in September 2022. Every version has an aluminium case, 32GB of storage and the S8 chip. The choices that change from one listing to the next are case size, connectivity and colour.

40mm or 44mm

The 40mm case suits smaller wrists and weighs less. The 44mm case has a larger display that is easier to read during workouts. Both sizes have the same features and the same sensors.

GPS or GPS + Cellular

A GPS watch relies on your iPhone or Wi-Fi for calls, messages and data. A GPS + Cellular watch has a built-in eSIM, so it can make calls and use data with your iPhone left at home, once a carrier plan is active. Cellular watches are sold unlocked.

Colours

The SE 2022 was made in Midnight, Starlight and Silver. Available colours depend on current stock and are shown on each listing.

What the Apple Watch SE 2 Includes and Leaves Out

The SE 2 covers the core Apple Watch functions:

• Heart rate tracking with high, low and irregular rhythm notifications
• Crash Detection, Fall Detection and Emergency SOS
• Workout tracking with built-in GPS, compass and altimeter
• Sleep tracking, Apple Pay and notifications from your iPhone
• Water resistance rated to 50 metres when new

It does not have an always-on display, the ECG app, a blood oxygen sensor or temperature sensing. Those features start with the Apple Watch Series 8 and later. Apple states that water resistance is not permanent and can reduce over time, so treat any used watch with care around water.

Condition Grades for a Used Apple Watch SE 2022

Each pre-owned watch is placed in one of four grades. The grade is shown in the product title, so you know the condition before you order.

• Open Box: the highest condition grade we list.
• Like New: the grade below Open Box, for watches in close to new condition.
• A-Grade: battery health of 85% or higher on older models and 80% or higher on newer models.
• B-Grade: battery health of 80% or higher, with visible marks on the case or screen. Fully functional.

Testing Before Listing

A second hand watch from a private seller comes with no testing record. Every renewed Apple Watch SE at Phonebot goes through full hardware testing before it is listed:

• Display, touch response, Digital Crown and side button
• Speaker, microphone and haptic feedback
• Heart rate sensor, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
• Charging and battery health against the grade threshold
• Cellular connection and IMEI blacklist check on GPS + Cellular watches
• Factory reset and unpaired from the previous Apple ID, so the watch is ready to pair with your iPhone

Apple Watch SE 2022 Price in UAE: What Affects It

Three things set the price of a refurbished Apple Watch SE 2022: the condition grade, the case size and the connectivity. A GPS + Cellular watch costs more than a GPS watch in the same grade, and Open Box and Like New watches cost more than A-Grade and B-Grade. Current prices are shown on each listing above.

Apple Watch SE 2022 vs SE 2020 and Series 9

The SE 2022 has the S8 chip and Crash Detection. The first generation SE from 2020 has the older S5 chip, no Crash Detection, and its software support ended at watchOS 10. If your budget is lower and you only need basic tracking, see the refurbished Apple Watch SE 1st generation.

The SE 2022 runs up to watchOS 26 and does not get watchOS 27. If you want the current watchOS along with an always-on display, ECG and blood oxygen hardware, a Series 9 or later is the better fit. You can weigh these against other brands across our refurbished smart watches.
