40mm or 44mm

Both sizes share the same S6 chip, sensors, 32GB storage and 18-hour battery rating. The differences are the display and the bands that fit:

• Apple Watch Series 6 40mm: 1.57-inch display, 394 by 324 pixels. Takes bands made for 38mm, 40mm and 41mm cases.
• Apple Watch Series 6 44mm: 1.78-inch display, 448 by 368 pixels. Takes bands made for 44mm, 45mm, 46mm and 49mm cases.

Pick the 44mm if you read notifications and workout stats on the wrist and have a larger wrist. Pick the 40mm for a lighter watch or a smaller wrist. If you already own bands from another Apple Watch, the band size decides for you.

GPS or GPS + Cellular

The GPS version handles calls, messages and streaming through your paired iPhone or a known Wi-Fi network. The GPS + Cellular version has a built-in eSIM, so once you add a watch plan from your UAE carrier through the Watch app on your iPhone, it makes calls, sends messages and streams music on its own. watchOS Support in 2026

Apple released watchOS 27 on 14 September 2026 for Series 9 and later, Ultra 2 and later and SE 3. The Series 6, along with the Series 7, Series 8, SE 2 and the original Ultra, stays on watchOS 26. Apple has said these watches keep receiving security updates and keep working when paired with an iPhone on iOS 27. In practice, a used Series 6 bought today runs every feature it has now, including the health apps above, but will not get new watchOS features going forward. That is the trade-off behind its price position. If new software features matter to you, the Series 9 is now the oldest watch that runs watchOS 27.

Series 6 vs Series 5 and 7

The three watches look alike but differ in ways that matter for a used purchase:

• Series 5 (2019): same 40mm and 44mm cases and an always-on display, but the S5 chip, no Blood Oxygen sensor, a dimmer wrist-down display and slower charging. It stopped at watchOS 10 in 2024. A refurbished Apple Watch Series 5 suits buyers who want ECG and Fall Detection at a lower outlay and do not need current software.
• Series 7 (2021): 41mm and 45mm cases with a larger display and thinner borders, IP6X dust resistance, faster charging with the USB-C cable and the same sensors as the Series 6. The S7 chip performs the same as the S6, and both watches now sit on watchOS 26. The Apple Watch Series 7 is the step up if screen size and charging speed matter more than price.

Grades for a Used Series 6

• A-Grade: light signs of use. Battery health of 85% or higher on older models, 80% or higher on newer models.
• B-Grade: visible marks on the case, fully functional, battery health of 80% or higher.
