Galaxy S21 models compared: S21 5G, S21+, S21 Ultra and S21 FE

All four run the same generation of chipset (Exynos 2100 or Snapdragon 888, depending on the regional version), support 5G, carry an IP68 water and dust rating, use a 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, and support 25W wired charging, wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare. None of them has a microSD slot, so choose the storage size you will need. They differ in screen size, cameras, RAM, battery capacity and build.

The standard S21 is the smallest phone in the series.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G

Released in January 2022, a year after the other three, the S21 FE (Fan Edition) launched at a lower price than the S21 and sits between the S21 and S21+ in size.

On software, the S21, S21+ and S21 Ultra shipped with Android 11 and their last version upgrade was Android 14. The S21 FE shipped with Android 12 and its last version upgrade was Android 15. Samsung publishes the security update schedule for each model on its website.

Condition grades for a used Galaxy S21

Phonebot grades on cosmetic condition. Every grade passes the same functional tests. The grade tells you how the phone looks and, for A-Grade and B-Grade, the minimum tested battery health.

  • Open Box: unused or barely handled, no visible wear. The closest option to a new retail unit.
  • Like New: no scratches, scuffs or marks visible under normal lighting.
  • A-Grade: light surface marks that show only on close inspection. Battery health tested at 85% or above.
  • B-Grade: visible scratches or marks on the body or screen. Fully functional. Battery health tested at 80% or above.

The grade, storage size and colour are stated on each listing. If price matters more than appearance, B-Grade gives you the same tested hardware with marks on the casing.

What we test before a refurbished Galaxy S21 is listed

Each phone goes through the same process, whether it is an S21 FE 128GB or an S21 Ultra 512GB:

  • Full hardware test: display and touch, all rear and front cameras, speakers and microphones, buttons, USB-C port, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 5G, GPS, NFC, in-display fingerprint reader and face unlock, wired and wireless charging, and S Pen input on the Ultra.
  • Battery test, with the result checked against the grade threshold above.
  • IMEI blacklist check, so the phone is not reported lost, stolen or blocked on any network.
  • Network lock check. Every S21 is sold unlocked and accepts any UAE or international SIM.
  • Factory reset with the previous Samsung and Google accounts removed, so the phone arrives ready for first setup.
  • Cleaning and sanitising before packing.

There is no single Galaxy S21 price. Each unit is priced on four things: the model (S21, S21+, S21 Ultra or S21 FE), the storage size, the condition grade and the tested battery health. Model and grade move the price most, so a B-Grade S21 or S21 FE sits at the lower end of the range and a Like New S21 Ultra with 512GB at the upper end. A B-Grade unit passes the same tests as an A-Grade unit and is fully functional; the difference is cosmetic marks and a lower minimum battery health.
